Over the summer we caught up with the team at Charity People, a recruitment firm with a passion for the charity sector, to deliver a tailored values workshop designed to refine their message and elevate their impact.

Why Values Matter

Values are more than just words—they are the essence of an organisation’s culture and brand. For Charity People, being an employee-owned business, their values needed to speak clearly to both their internal team and the wider charity sector they serve. Understanding this, our approach focused on simplifying and amplifying the key principles that define their ethos, ensuring these values would resonate deeply with charity partners and candidates alike.

Led by our brand strategist Tracy Johnson, the workshop was centred around rethinking how Charity People communicate their values. By reviewing their set of seven values down to four core principles, we enabled the team to focus on what truly matters to their clients. Simplifying the message allowed us to sharpen the impact and ensure it aligns with the organisation’s unique strengths.

One of the key insights from the workshop was the power of storytelling in communicating Charity People’s unique model of employee ownership. We worked with them to develop narratives that explain not only what employee ownership means, but also how it benefits both their charity partners and candidates—through increased accountability, agility, and a closer alignment with the values of the charity sector.
